The Liberal Bee Jay organization handed out the hardware and watched as the B.J. team bashed the Dodge City A’s 15-9 Friday night at Brent Gould Field. Before the game, Drew Grego was named Bee Jay Player of the Year. Todd King was named Director of the Year. Jimmy and Judy Wagenseller won the Carlile Fan of the Year Award.
The Bee Jay offense was revved up Friday night scoring three in the first and three in the second for a 6-1 lead after two. Liberal tacked on one in the third and two in the fourth to lead 9-1. Dodge City plated four in the fifth and four in the seventh but Liberal scored five in the seventh for the cushion.
Liberal out-hit the A’s 13-11. DC committed five errors and Liberal played errorless baseball. Jack Ryan and Carson Willis slammed home runs for the B.J.’s. Carson Willis was 3-5 with four RBI’s and three runs. Jackson Witt was 3-5 with two runs. JT Cox, Jack Ryan, and Larry Olivarez had two hits a piece. Kage Ralstin pitched four innings with six strikeouts. Cross Durham pitched 2 and 1/3 and Leandro Tamaki went 2 and 2/3.
Dodge City is 17-18 overall and 13-10 in the Rocky Mountain. Liberal is 14-14 and 11-13 in the Rocky Mountain. The same two teams get together in Dodge City Saturday night at 7pm on 1270 and 92.3.
