After building a 5-3 lead, the Liberal Bee Jays fell to the Dodge City A’s 6-5 Saturday night in Dodge City. It was Liberal’s final road game of the season. The B.J.’s finish 3-6 in road games.
The A’s led 3-1 after three after scoring in the first three innings. Liberal scored in the third. A fifth inning run brought the Bee Jays within 3-2. Liberal took a 5-3 lead in the seventh on a Carson Willis home run. The A’s answered with one in the seventh to make it 5-4 and two in the eighth.
Liberal lost despite out-hitting the A’s 8-5. B.J. pitching walked 10.
Matt Bernath was 2-3 with three runs and a triple. Drew Grego was 2-3 with a double.
Dodge City improved to 18-18 overall and 14-10 in the Rocky Mountain. This was Liberal’s last Rocky Mountain league game. They finish 11-14 in the Rocky Mountain. The same two teams meet Sunday night at Brent Gould Field for National Beef Night.
