On August 19, 2025, at approximately 5:36 PM, Liberal Police officers and emergency personnel responded to a reported injury accident at the intersection of Tucker Rd and Lilac Dr.

Upon arrival, officers discovered one vehicle overturned. Through investigation, officers determined that a 2004 red GMC Canyon was traveling eastbound on Tucker Rd when a 2016 white Jeep Patriot, traveling westbound on Tucker Rd, attempted to turn South onto Lilac Dr. The driver of the Jeep failed to yield to the GMC, causing the GMC to strike the Jeep. Following the impact, the GMC left the roadway and overturned.

The male driver of the GMC sustained a head injury and was transported to Southwest Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Jeep was cited for failure to yield the right of way when making a left turn. Due to extensive damage, both vehicles were towed from the scene.
