A Two Vehicle Accident Injures A Plains Teen

A two vehicle accident occurred Monday morning at 7:29am just west of the Meade/Seward County line at mile post 26.5. A 1995 GMC Sierra pick up being driven by 16 year old Billy Bryant Walston of Plains, was westbound on U.S. Highway 54 when he crossed the centerline and struck a 1999 Peterbilt semi being driven by Daniel Earliwine, 45, of St. Clairsville Ohio. Walston was ejected from his vehicle and was taken to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal to be treated for his injuries. Earliwine was not injured. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.
