Saints Trade Sweeps at Lamar

The Seward baseball team opened their season Sunday afternoon at Merchants Park in Lamar.  The game was moved to Sunday when it was sunny and in the 60’s.  Lamar ripped Seward 16-2 in five innings in game one before the Saints muscled up 17-6 in seven innings in game two.

Seward struggled in every way in their opener.  Seward committed seven errors.  SCCC pitching allowing 16 runs in four innings.  The Lopes scored one in the first, five in the second, and 10 in the fourth.  Isai Santaella drove home two runs with a double.

In game two, the Saints slugged five home runs.  Juan Alvarez was 2-3 with four runs and three RBI’s and a triple.  Isai Santaella was 2-3 with three runs and two RBI’s.  David Brabb, Grant Cox, Jacob Urias, Juan Alvarez, and Mason Gilbert hit home runs in the win.  Jacob Urias scored three runs.  Ulysses native Armani Ysac pitched two shutout innings.  Braden Whipple pitched a shutout inning.  The Saints trailed 4-2 after one.  But a five run fourth and a seven run sixth swung the momentum to the Saints.  

Seward hosts Kirkwood Saturday and Sunday at 1pm at Brent Gould Field.
