A Familiar Road for Redskins in Close Loss

Another rally.  Another raucous Rowdy Crowd.  But another familiar result for the Liberal Redskins Friday night in the Big House.  This time, the Skins fell behind by 12 in the first half before rallying to tie the game twice in the second half.  But for a 13th straight time, the Dodge City Red Demons prevailed against Liberal.  The Demons made the plays down the stretch to win 52-47.

The Red Demons built  a lead of 10-2 and led 12-4 after one quarter.  DCHS led by as many as 12 at 27-15.  The Demons led 27-16 at the half holding the Redskins to 6-21 shooting from the field in the opening half.  The Redskins began the second half on a 16-5 run to tie the game at 32-32.  Dodge led 35-32 after three.  The Red Demons led 41-34 before Juan Diego buried a left wing three to make it 41-37 with 4:25 to play.  The Skins tied the game 41-41 with with 2:48 to play.  Dodge led 46-41 but LHS cut the lead to three at 48-45 and 50-47.  But Ty Scheck’s two free throws for Dodge City with 4.6 seconds remaining put the game away.

Both teams shot 37 percent from the field.  The Skins were 3-21 from three and the Demons were 4-19 from beyond the arch.  Dodge City made 14-21 from the free throw line and LHS was 8-12.

James Fieser was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game with 13 points and six rebounds despite foul trouble.  Prince Collins and Adrian Gonzalez scored 10 a piece.

Dodge City is 8-4 and 1-0 in the WAC.  Liberal is 1-9 and 0-3 in the WAC.  It’s a 36th straight WAC loss.  The Redskins play at Syracuse Saturday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
