Lady Saint Roll in Return

The Seward Lady Saints made sure to start strongly in 2026.  Seward rolled to a 76-37 over the Independence Lady Pirates Saturday afternoon in Oakes Family Fieldhouse in Independence.  It’s Seward’s fifth straight win at Independence and fifth straight win over Indy.

Both teams were sloppy early as Seward was playing for the first time since December 13 and Indy for the first time since December 10.  The Lady Saints jumped out to a lead of 16-10 and led 18-13 after one.  Seward took a 29-17 lead.  Seward led 34-23 at the half despite 12 turnovers.  The Lady Saints began the second half on an 11-3 run to lead 45-26 at the media timeout.  The Lady Saints dominated the third quarter leading 53-26 and 53-28 after three for a 19-5 advantage in the third quarter.  SCCC outscored Indy 23-9 in the fourth.

Seward held Indy to 19 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers.  Seward shot 39 percent and committed 18 turnovers but made 11-25 from three point range.  Seward out-rebounded ICC 54-41.

Avery Marchino scored 21 points with 12 rebounds to lead four Lady Saints in double digits.  Trinitee Holmes had a career high 13 points and nine rebounds.  Au’Rayona Seals scored a career high 12.  Kimora Fagan added 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Destiny Alexander had nine points and seven rebounds.

Independence falls to 4-10 overall and 1-7 in the Jayhawk.  Seward improves to 11-4 overall and 6-3 in the KJCCC.  Seward hosts Barton Saturday at 2pm with Saints Shoot-around at 1:45 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
