LHS Wrestling Opens with a Dual at Hugoton

Liberal’s boys and girls wrestling teams opened with a dual at Hugoton on Tuesday night.  Hugoton beat Liberal 51-27 in the boys dual.  The LHS girls won 60-12.  Here is coach Cindy Orrantia’s viewpoint of the LHS girls win.

The team opened the season with an impressive performance, securing a 60–12 victory in their first dual of the year. All the girls who stepped onto the mat delivered standout wins, each earning a victory by pin and setting a strong tone for the season ahead. From start to finish, the team showed confidence, control, and teamwork, making this an exciting beginning to what promises to be a competitive season.

Here are boys coach Sergio Borjas’s comments:

The Liberal Boys Wrestling team lost to Hugoton 51-27. The boys struggled in key areas, and were not able to find any type of rhythm. We’re hoping to build off tonight’s loss and get better as the season progresses.

The girls go to Pratt on Friday and the boys go to Pratt on Saturday.
