Saints 5-0 1st Time in 10 Years

For the first time since the 2015-16 season, the Seward County Saints are 5-0.  Seward took a rugged 75-66 decision over New Mexico Military Friday night at the Caster Activity Center in Hobbs.

The Saints led 13-8 early before the Broncos rallied to lead 15-13.  Seward reeled in an 11-0 run to lead 24-15.  Seward led 31-16 and led 41-28 at the half.  SCCC led 60-45 and 62-47 before NMMI rallied to make it 63-57 with 4:30 to play.

The Saints shot 44 percent from the field while making 8-27 from three and 21-34 at the foul line.  NMMI shot 35 percent despite shooting 15 more times than the Saints.  The Broncos were 2-20 from three and 16-26 from the foul line.  NMMI out rebounded Seward 44-37.  SCCC had 14 assists and 13 turnovers.

Lyna Brooks Jr. scored 16 and was Epic Touch Player of the Game.  Lucas N’Gombo had 10 points and seven rebounds.

New Mexico Military is 2-4.  Seward is 5-0 and plays at 5-0 New Mexico Junior College Saturday at 2pm on 1270 and 92.3.
