Maynard Aims to Turn Elkhart Around

The Elkhart Wildcats have a third head coach in the past three years.  Seeking stability, the school turns to Craig Maynard who moves to Elkhart from Deerfield.  He has also coached at West Elk in Howard, Kansas, Putnam City, Oklahoma, Fowler, and at Liberal under coach Caleb Cline.  He played ball at Panhandle State.  He is trying to turn around an Elkhart program which was 0-9 last year and has lost 11 in a row.

Maynard has a young Elkhart team with just three seniors.  There are 22 out for football at the 8 man Division 1 school.  The Wildcats have three starters back on both sides of the ball.

Some of the key Elkhart players are Sr. RB/QB/S Elijah Torres, Sr. lineman Adrian Duran, Sr. WR/S Corey Wellen, Jr. WR/CB Diego Barco, So. QB Alex Gomez, and So. lineman Cooper Fink.

Elkhart was featured during Sportsguys Tuesday morning.  Elkhart plays their last three games at home.
