Rattlers Wrap Up Season in Elk City

The Liberal Rattlers played three games to finish their season in Elk City and Canute, Oklahoma this weekend.

On Thursday, the 18u Mudcats, made up of players from the Elk City and Canute area, beat the Rattlers 11-3.  The Mudcats hit a grand slam in the first inning.  Landon Martinez and Alec Madden had Liberal’s only two hits.

Friday late afternoon  Liberal lost 11-7 to an Ada A’s team they beat earlier in the season.  Liberal walked eight while the Rattlers only walked twice.  Liberal out-hit the A’s 7-6.  The A’s had five errors and the Rattlers had two.  Alex Schwindt was 2-4 with a double and an RBI.  Bentlee Betts drove home two runs.  Blayden Betts, Bren Kappelmann, and Landon Martinez added RBI hits.  Bren Kappelmann pitched two scoreless innings.

Saturday morning, the Rattlers lost 6-5 in eight innings to Burkburnett.  Liberal led most of the game building leads of 3-1 and 4-2.  The Rattlers lead 5-4 in the seventh and needed one out to win it but Burkburnett tied the game and sent it to extra innings.  Burkburnett out-hit the Rattlers 9-8.  The Rattlers committed five errors in the loss.  Blayden Betts was 2-2 with two runs and a double off the wall in center.  Hayden Pendergraft was 2-4.  Austin Dodge had a double and two RBI’s.  Bren Kappelmann drove home two runs.  Manny Mendoza pitched four strong innings allowing one earned run.

The Rattlers finish 7-14.
