A Road Rout for Bee Jays

The Liberal Bee Jays banged out nine extra base hits on their way to a 16-6 run rule win over the Colorado Roughriders at Regis University in Denver Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The Bee Jays scored two in the third to take the lead.  Larry Olivarez singled.  Drug Grego doubled.  Justin Hudson whistled a two RBI double off the wall in left.  The Roughriders answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Two runs were earned and two runs were unearned.  They scored on four hits, one error, and two hit batters to lead 4-2.   The Bee Jays came back with three in the fourth to lead 5-4.  Landon Bruce singled.  Jacob Ortega ripped a two run home run to the tree in right to tie the game at 4-4.  Matt Bernath singled and scored the go ahead run on Drew Grego’s RBI single to lead 5-4.  Drew Garcia launched a home run to begin the fifth.  Landon Bruce singled and stole second.  Matt Bernath singled him home for the 7-4 lead.  Drew Grego roped a triple to right to begin the sixth.  Justin Hudson doubled him home for the 8-4 advantage.  The Bee Jays plated three in the seventh to extend their lead to 11-4.  Matt Bernath and Drew Grego singled.  Justin Hudson drilled a three run home run to left center.  Liberal added five in the eighth.  Landon  Bruce doubled and Jack Ryan doubled home two.  Matt Bernath singled home a run.  Justin Hudson doubled home a run. Carson Willis singled home a run.
Justin Hudson was Epic Touch Player of the Game.  He was 5-6 with a home run, three doubles, and seven RBI’s. Drew Grego was 4-5 with a triple and a double. Matt Bernath and Landon Bruce had two hits a piece.Braedon Whipple pitched 4 and 1/3 shutout innings with nine strikeouts and one hit.

The Roughriders are 9-12. The Bee Jays are 12-10 overall and 10-10 in the Rocky Mountain.  The Riders won the season series 3-2.  Liberal plays in Parker against the Gameday Angels Wednesday night at 7 pm central time with pregame at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
