Angels Sink Bee Jays for Split

The Gameday Angels held the Liberal Bee Jay bats in check again on Sunday.  The Angels held the Bee Jays to one run and four hits in a 3-1 win over the B.J.’s Sunday afternoon at Brent Gould Field.  The teams split the four game series.

The game was scoreless until Gameday’s Tyler Genrich hit a solo home run to left to begin the fourth inning.  The Bee Jays walked the bases loaded to begin the top of the eighth.  The Angels chased home two runs.  The Bee Jays scored a run in the ninth when Jacob Ortega reached on a fielder’s choice.  The Bee Jays had other chances to score.  They had two on in the first and didn’t score.  Diego Davis hit a one out double in the fifth and Jacob Ortega singled to right but the runner did not score from second.  The B.J.’s placed their first two men on base on a HBP and walk to begin the eighth.  But two pop outs and a strikeout ended the inning.

The Angels out-hit the Bee Jays 5-4.  The Angels had the only error in the game.  Braden Whipple was Epic Touch Player of the Game going five innings allowing one run, four hits, with five strikeouts, and two walks.  Kyle Hawkworth worked two scoreless innings.  Aden Bowman worked two shutout innings.

The Angels are 4–3 and Liberal is 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the Rocky Mountain.  The Bee Jays play at Dodge City Tuesday night at 7pm with pre-game at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
