The 18u Liberal Rattlers opened their season this weekend in Goddard and Wichita.  The team opened 0-4 in their first games.  The Rattlers opened Friday night with a 4-0 loss to the Kansas Rattlers, made up primarily of players from Andover and Maize.  Cy Greeson hit a triple to right which was the team’s only hit.   Manny Mendoza worked three innings allowing one run.  Saturday afternoon the Rattlers played at Tyler Field at Wichita State University.  They lost 15-0 to Williwaw Baseball, a Wichita team.  The Rattlers struggled in this game with three errors and one hit.  Later Saturday afternoon, the Rattlers returned to Genesis Sports Complex in Goddard and lost a 7-3 game to the Kansas Commodores from the Wichita area.  Both teams had three hits and walked six.  Manny Mendoza hit a double and scored two runs.  Bentlee Betts pitched three innings allowing one run. Cy Greeson pitched two shutout innings with four strikeouts.  The Rattlers played Sunday  in Goddard against the  Dodge City Mayhem made up of players from Dodge City, Holcomb, Cimarron and surrounding areas.  The Mayhem won 10-1 at Liberal committed six errors.  Blayden Betts was 2-2.  Alex Schwindt worked four strong innings with six strikeouts and no walks.  Liberal plays two games Saturday and two games Sunday in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
