Bridge Repairs on U.S. 54 to Begin in Meade County

Joe Denoyer - July 22, 2022 4:30 pm

Traffic changes are scheduled to start on Monday, Aug. 1, along U.S. 54 east of Meade County due to a multiple bridge repair project, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

U.S. 54 in both directions U.S. 54/23 Road junction to U.S. 54/26 Road junction will be closed. Traffic will follow the signed detour on U.S. 283 to U.S. 160. Access to U.S. 54 from 24 Road will be closed on both sides during the project.

KDOT uses state highways for official detour routes for safety, weight and maintenance concerns.

Bridges Inc. of Newton is the contractor on this $909,000 project that is expected to be completed by mid-December, weather permitting.

For more information on this project, contact Larry Meyer, Area Construction Manager, at (620) 384-7821, or Yazmin Moreno, KDOT District 6 Public Affairs Manager, at (620) 260-6397.
