Area Firefighters Assisting in Durham Oklahoma Wildfires

Joe Denoyer - March 30, 2022 3:23 pm

Before severe storms moved across Oklahoma Tuesday night, winds gusting up to 60 mph fueled wildfires in northwest Oklahoma that forced some to evacuate.
High winds caused the flames to spread quickly in Roger Mills County.
Roger Mills Emergency Management asked that residents in the Durham and Dead Warrior Lake neighborhoods in northwestern Roger Mills County evacuate last night due to wildfires.

Texas County has sent a Strike Force Team of 7 trucks and 14 firefighters to assist in battling this blaze. The trucks and firefighters are from Guymon, Tyrone, Hooker, Baker, Goodwell and Hough. They are currently under the command of Jeff Hensley. They are located near Durham Oklahoma. The plan is to switch out crews Wednesday evening, and then again at 8:00am Thursday morning.
