The Liberal Bee Jays took a 12-2 run rule win over the Canes Great Plains Sunday afternoon at Brent Gould Field. The B.J.’s swept the two game series as both games were run-rules in five innings.
With sunny skies and temperatures in the 70’s, the Canes scored two in the first to take the lead. Liberal scored two in the second to tie it. Adam Swanson singled and stole second. Seth Green singled him home. Cooper Kardokus singled. Ben Finnegan singled home a run. The Bee Jays scored seven in the third. Wyatt Bohanon singled home a run with a swinging bunt single. Seth Green launched a three RBI double off the wall in center. Cooper Kardokus lined an RBI triple to center. Ben Finnegan grounded out to score a run. Noa Giovanelli doubled and Josiah Rojas singled him home.
Adam Swanson was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game going 3-4 with two RBI’s and two runs. Seth Green was 2-4 with four RBI’s and two runs. Cooper Kardokus was 2-3. Noah Giovanelli was 2-3. Preston Roberge started and went 1 and 2/3 innings and did not allow an earned run. William Bologna went 1 and 2/3 with two strikeouts. Braxon Trenkle worked 2/3 scoreless and Jack Taczy went a scoreless inning with three strikeouts.
The Canes are 4-6. Liberal is 5-2. The Bee Jays return to Rocky Mountain League play this week. The Bee Jays play at City Park in Fort Collins against the Foxes Monday night at 7pm central time on 1270 and 92.3 FM. Pregame at 6:45.
