Bee Jays Run Rule Angels

The Liberal Bee Jays are off to a 2-0 start after a 15-5 win over the Gameday Angels Sunday afternoon at Brent Gould Field.  The game went seven innings.  Cole Manuel went 3-3 with a grand slam and eight RBI’s.

Liberal scored a run in the first.  After two walks, Cole Manuel hit a sacrifice fly to right.  The Angels coughed up four errors in the third as the B.J.s scored three.  Cole Manuel provided an RBI single and Josiah Rojas grounded out to score a run.  The Angels came back with two in the fourth and one in the fifth.  The Angels had the bases loaded with one out trailing 4-3 in the fifth before B.J. pitcher Adam Swanson induced the 5-4-3 double play to get out of the inning.  The Bee Jays kept momentum for the rest of the game.  Liberal scored 10 in the fifth.  William Bologna singled.  Cole Manuel doubled home two for the 6-3 lead.  Kaden Isola singled home a run for the 7-3 lead.  Seth Green rolled a two RBI single up the middle for the 9-3 lead.  Jhett Huffman dropped an RBI double down the left field line.  Cole Manuel hit a towering grand slam to left for the 14-3 lead.  Gameday scored two in the seventh to make it 14-5.  William Bologna singled to begin a one out rally in the seventh.  Josiah Rojas ripped an RBI single to right to end the game 15-5.

Braden Whipple went 3 and 1/3 solid innings for the B.J.’s.  Adam Swanson pitched 2 and 2/3 to finish it.  Manuel had the monster game going 3-3 with eight RBI’s, a grand slam, and a double.  He was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game.  William Bologna was 2-4.  Drew Gartman got on base all five at bats.  Seth Green was 2-4 with two RBI’s.

Gameday is 2-3.  Liberal is 2-0 and plays a non league game at Dodge City Monday night at 7pm.  The next radio broadcast is Wednesday night at home with the Boulder 64’s with pre-game at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
