The Seward County Saints came out ready to swing the bats Thursday afternoon at the Region 6 Baseball Tournament at Eck Stadium in Wichita. SCCC built leads of 7-0 and 9-4. But the #22 Hutchinson Blue Dragons rallied for the 18-10 run tule win over the Saints in seven innings.
The Saints scored two in the first. With two outs, Grant Cox doubled off the wall in right before an RBI double by Blaine Chancy to right. Diego Munoz rolled a single up the middle for an RBI. The Saints scored two in the second. Jacob Urias reached on a swinging bunt. Isai Santaella blasted a two run home run on to 21st street for the 4-0 lead. The Saints added on in the third. Jhett Huffman ripped a two RBI double to left. Jacob Urias rolled a sharp single up the middle for the 7-0 lead. The Blue Dragons scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the third to make it 7-4. Blaine Chancy blasted a two run home run over the center field fence in the fourth for the 9-4 lead. The Blue Dragons exploded for a seven run fourth to lead 11-9. Hutch added two more in the fifth to lead 13-9. The Saints scored an unearned run after an error in the sixth to make it 13-10. The Dragons scored five in the seventh to end it early. z a
Blaine Chancy was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game going 2-3 with a home run, a double, four RBI’s and three runs. Jhett Huffman was 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI’s. Grant Cox, Isai Santaella, and Diego Munoz added two hits a piece.
Hutchinson is 46-14. Seward finishes 25-38.
