The Saints met the #1 Johnson Cavaliers Wednesday night in the Region 6 Tournament at Eck Stadium in Wichita. Seward jumped to a 2-0 lead before Johnson rallied feasting on eight SCCC walks.
The Saints scored first. Jhett Huffman whistled a lead off double in the third. Isai Santaella doubled to left center to drive him home. Grant Cox grounded out to drive home a run. The Saints dropped a fly ball in left in the bottom of the third allowing a runner to circle the bases. Johnson scored six fourth inning runs to lead 7-2. In the top of the fifth, Jhett Huffman singled and Juan Alvarez grounded a single up the middle to score him to make it 7-3. The Cavaliers scored four in the fifth on three walks, a triple, and a wild pitch.
Johnson out-hit Seward 6-5. The game ended after seven due to run rule.
Johnson has won 41 in a row and improves to 57-2. Seward falls to 25-37 and plays the loses of Cowley and Hutchinson Thursday afternoon at 1pm on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
