The Liberal softball team lost a see-saw affair 11-10 and then dropped a blowout 17-2 at Hays Tuesday afternoon and evening.
In game one, both teams scored three in the first. Hays plated two in the second. LHS scored three in the third to lead 6-5. Hays scored three in the bottom of the inning to lead 8-6. LHS scored two in the fourth to tie it at 8-8 before HHS scored in the bottom of the fourth for the 9-8 lead. LHS scored two in the fifth for the 10-9 lead. The Indians scored two in the bottom of the fifth to lead 11-10. Hays out-hit LHS 12-10. Hays had four errors and Liberal had two. Brooklyn Short was 3-4 with three run and a double. Allie Champion was 2-4 with three RBI’s and a double. Rebecca Mclane legged out a triple.
In game two, Hays scored seven in the first. LHS chased home single runs in the second and third to make it 7-2. The Indians exploded for a 10 run third to win in a 15 after three inning run rule. Brooklyn Short was 2-2.
Hays is 10-11 and 6-5 in the WAC. Liberal is 6-16 overall and 0-9 in the WAC. Liberal plays at Dodge City Tuesday night at about 6pm.
