Liberal’s boys golf team played at Smoky Hills in Hays Monday. Here are results from coach Nick Rotolo:
The LHS Boys Golf team is showing signs of improvement as we start to make more pars and string together better stretches. We still have to improve on limiting the bad holes where we make triples and doubles back to back. That will come with the more competitive rounds we get in.
Kale Miller led the way with an 8th place finish and a 77. He played 14 holes really well and just had a rough stretch in the middle of his round. He sits 3rd in WAC player of the year standings going into our last event next week in Liberal.
Rylin Roehr shot an 86 and was on pace to set a PR and had a rough finish, but is showing more consistency throughout the round.
Reed Roehr shot an 89 and is continually getting better. The round got away from him in the middle for a little bit, but he was able to gather himself and finish strong.
Alonso Huaman shot a 92. In his first year playing he has been having trouble getting off to slow starts and putting himself in a hole. But he never quits and figures it out the more holes he plays.
Carter Rhine shot a 94. He is continuing to improve as he shot a 125 in his first event and now is staying in the mid 90s and will continue to get better.
Kyle Colvin shot a 96. Right now he is battling some mechanics and the leads to some bad stretches, but he never gives up on his round. With his work ethic I know he will get it figured out.
Over the next week we have some things to work on before our home tournament on the 12th. We definitely have been showing signs of improvement and getting our team score down.
