The Seward County Saints wrapped up their regular season with a pair of games against the #3 ranked Jayhawk West champion Cloud Thunderbirds Saturday at Lee Doyen Field in Concordia. Cloud dominated winning 10-0 in six innings and 13-4.
In game one, Cloud run ruled the Saints 10-0 in six. Cloud scored in every inning plating two in the first, one in the second, two in the third, fourth, and fifth. Cloud walked it off with their fifth home run of the game in the sixth. Juan Alvarez was 2-3 in the loss. It was the first time the Saints have been shut out this season.
In game two, the Saints scored in the second. Hayden Ramage doubled to left and scored when Juan Alvarez line a single to center. Cloud tied the game in the fourth. The Saints took a 2-1 lead when Juan Alvarez lifted a solo home run to left. Cloud blew the game wide open with nine in the fifth. Cloud added a sixth inning run. SCCC scored two in the seventh. Hayden Ramage lined a two RBI single to right.
Cloud sweeps a four game series over the Saints for the first time. Cloud is 47-5 overall and 28-4 in the Jayhawk West. The Saints fall to 23-35 and finish 15-17 in the Jayhawk West. The Saints have lost 10 of their last 11. They host Coffeyville Thursday to begin the Region 6 best 2 of 3 portion of the Region 6 Tournament on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
