In possibly the final games played on a grass and dirt field at French Family Field, the Dodge City Conquistadors swept the Seward County Saints softball team 6-4 and 10-2 Friday afternoon.
In game one, DC3 out-hit SCCC 11-5. Dodge City scored two in the first but Seward scored three. SCCC plated a third inning run to lead 4-2. The Conqs scored one in the fourth, two in the sixth, and one more in the seventh. Kate Perez and Jahlisa Klear had two hits a piece.
In game two, DCCC scored four in the first and one in the fifth to lead 5-0. SCCC scored in the bottom of the fifth to make it 5-2. Dodge scored five in the seventh to blow the game open. The Conqs out-hit the Saints 7-4. Ami Perez was 2-4 with two RBI’s.
Dodge City improves to 37-15 overall and 19-7 in the Jayhawk. Seward falls to 17-29 overall and 9-19 in the Jayhawk. The Saints play at Garden City on Wednesday.
