Lyon Spins No Hitter as Liberal Sweeps Hugoton

Led by dominant pitching including a no hitter from Haiden Lyon, the Liberal Redskin softball team swept the Hugoton Eagles 8-0 and 12-3 Thursday afternoon and evening at the National Beef Sports Complex.

In game one, Haiden Lyon was dominant pitching all seven innings in a no hitter.  She struck out 15 and walked two.  LHS scored four in the first, two in fourth, and two in the sixth.  Liberal had five hits in the win.  Miley Janko was 2-3 with a triple and a double.  Brooklyn Short added a triple.

In game two, Liberal scored three in the first, three in the third, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth.  Hugoton scored one in the third and two in the fifth.  Devaney Carter pitched seven innings and did not allow an earned run.  She had 12 strikeouts and three walks.  Allie Champion, Devaney Carter, and Karidee McClane had two hits a piece.  Devaney Carter hit a triple.  Allie Champion, Brooklyn Short, Haiden Lyon, and Vivi Favila hit doubles.  LHS out-hit HHS 11-6.

Hugoton falls to 6-6.  Liberal is 4-8 and hosts Garden City Tuesday night at 6pm for a single game.
