The Garden City Broncbusters swept the Seward County Saints 8-7 and 8-5 Thursday afternoon and evening at Williams Stadium in Garden City.  The games were played with temperatures in the 80’s in game one and the upper 70’s in game two with winds blowing in at 25-40 miles per hour.

GCCC jumped on the Saints with three in the second.  The Busters added a fourth inning run to lead 4-0.  Seward plated a fourth inning run.  David Braab led off the inning with a single.  Jacob Urias reached on a fielder’s choice.  Jhett Huffman singled.  Isai Santaella singled home a run.   The Busters scored three fifth inning runs for the 7-1 lead.  Seward rallied for five in the fifth.  Diego Munoz, Jhett Huffman, and Isai Santaella singled.  Juan Alvarez singled home a run.  Hayden Ramage lined a three RBI triple to center.  Grant Cox drove home a run on a ground out to make it 7-6.  GCCC scored an unearned insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to lead 8-6.  Jackson Phillips singled and Isai Santaella doubled in the seventh.  Juan Alvarez hit a sac fly.  Seward lost despite out hitting GCCC 13-8.  GCCC had three errors and Seward had one.  Isai Santaella was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game going 4-5.  Grant Cox and Jhett Huffman had two hits a piece.  Cross Durham worked 1 and 2/3 and did not allow an earned run.

In game two, Isai Santaella doubled to lead off the game.  He scored on a Hayden Ramage double.  Jhett Huffman walked with the bases loaded to score a run.  The Broncbusters scored two in the bottom of the first to tie it.  The Busters scored three in the bottom of the third to lead 5-2.  The Busters scored an unearned run in the fourth to lead 6-2.  The Saints rallied with three in the sixth to make it 6-5.  Juan Alvarez drove home a run.  A run scored on a GCCC error. And Blaine Chancy drove home a run on a ground out.  But Seward did not score again.  Garden tacked on two more in the seventh.  Juan Alvarez and Isai Santaella had two hits a piece.

Garden City is 6-8 in the Jayhawk West and 13-18 overall.  Seward is 15-20 overall and 7-3 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward hosts Garden City Saturday at 1pm on 1270.
