Dodge City Holds Off Lady Saints

The #9 Dodge City Lady Conqs held off the upset minded Seward Lady Saints 67-62 Wednesday night in the Green House.  SCCC led 58-57 before DCCC controlled the last couple of minutes for the win.  Dodge City made 11 three pointers and Seward made just two.  It was the last game of the regular season.

Dodge City jumped out to a 14-8 lead.  Seward rallied to lead 18-16 after one quarter.  DC3 came back to lead 27-21.  The Lady Conqs led 31-29 at the half.  DCCC jumped ahead 35-29 iand 38-31 n the third quarter and Seward cut the lead to 38-36.  Dodge City led 45-41 after three.  A Kimora Fagan three pointer cut the DCCC lead to 49-48 with 6:31 to play.  Seward led 52-49 with 4:23 remaining.  Seward led 54-52 before Dodge City went on a 5-0 run to lead 57-54.  Seward led 58-57 after a technical foul on the Dodge City head coach.  DC3 led 61-58 after a technical against the Seward head coach.

The Black Hills Energy Player of the Game is Tyniah Smith with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Avery Marchino led Seward with 18 points and five rebounds.  Kimora Fagan had 13 points and seven steals.  Destiny Alexander added 10.

Seward shot 42 percent from the field making 2-15 from three point range and 16-20 from the foul line.  Dodge City shot 40 percent making 11-28 from three for 39 percent.  DC3 was 12-12 from the foul line.  Dodge City won despite 23 turnovers but for Seward into 21 turnovers.

Dodge City is 25-4 overall and 20-4 in the Jayhawk.  Seward falls to 19-11 overall and 14-10 in the Jayhawk.  Seward will host a Region 6 Tournament opening round game Saturday at a time to be announced against Fort Hays Tech on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
