The Seward baseball team built two early leads in Odessa. But the Wranglers rallied on their home field to trip up the Saints 7-6 and 14-4 Friday on a cloudy day in Odessa.
In game one, the Saints scored one in the first and five in the third to lead 6-3. The Wranglers tied it with three unearned in the bottom of the fourth after a Seward error. Odessa scored one in the bottom of the sixth for the 7-6 lead. Juan Alvarez had two hits. Grant Cox, Isai Santaella, and Ryan Todd doubled in the loss. Brooks Kappelmann started the game going 3 and 2/3 with four strikeouts and one walk allowing three earned runs. Ashton Creighton went 2 and 1/3 allowing one run with four strikeouts and one walk.
In game two, SCCC scored three in the second and one in the fifth to lead 4-2. But the Wranglers plated nine in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth for the run rule. Jhett Huffman and Isai Santaella both doubled in the loss. Michael Lujan went four innings with six strikeouts and two walks allowing one earned run.
The Wranglers are 4-3. The Saints are 2-6 and play at #25 Midland Saturday at noon.
