83 Highway Improvements To Be Discussed

Citizens and officials to get a glimpse this week at results of a survey taken by area residents when the Kansas Department of Transportation began a corridor study looking at possible alternatives for improving U.S. Highway 83 from Sublette to Scott City.

Possible improvements will be unveiled this week during three open meetings in Sublette, Garden City and Scott City.

According to KDOT, the come-and-go meetings are 6 to 8 p.m. each night. The meetings are scheduled for tonight at the Sublette Christian Church,; tomorrow night at the 4-H Building, at the Finney County Fairgrounds; and Wednesday evening at the Law Enforcement Center, in Scott City.

KDOT plans to take all comments heard at the meetings under consideration and prepare a series of proposed projects for review later this fall. A KDOT release states the final report on the U.S. 83 corridor should be released in spring 2010 and include several projects ranked based on priority.
