KIOWA COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) – It’s not every day you see a celebrity getting pulled over during a traffic stop. But that’s exactly what happened in Kiowa County on Friday.
Sgt. Justin Rugg with the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a vehicle that had 1980s music star John Waite and his band in it, who were on their way to a performance at Dodge City Days that evening.
“I’m not even on cloud 9, I’m on like cloud 12,” said Rugg.
In a comment on the department’s Facebook post Friday, Rugg said that they were given a verbal warning for speeding.
Waite is well known for the 1984 hit “Missing You”, and was also lead vocalist for the the bands The Babys and Bad English.
