Redskins Blank Great Bend to Take Soccer Opener

In a game delayed one hour due to heat, the Redskin soccer team got home late after Thursday’s game.  It was well worth it.  The Redskins opened their season with a 2-0 win at Great Bend.  It was 0-0 at halftime.  At the 20 minute mark of the second half, freshman Abiel Torres scored his first varsity goal off a corner kick set play with an Isacc Erives header assist.  Ten minutes later, Gio Barrera scored the second goal after a high press steal outside of the Panther box with a well placed shot.  The Redskins play Monday at 3pm against the Hutchinson Salt Hawks in the Wichita South Titan Classic.
