LHS girls tennis went Cimarron and had an impressive showing. The girls came out and powered their way to a first place finish.
1 singles – Evelyn Tarango finished 4-0 taking the championship!
2 singles – Emery Turner also took the championship by finishing undefeated at 4-0.
1 doubles – Yvanna Rivera & Maliyah Navarro dominated their way through the competition at 4-0 to the top finish.
2 doubles – Bella Patel & Aileen Figueroa dropped one tough one but won the rest to take 3rd with a 3-1 day.
The girls played good but all saw places they can get even better. We all look forward to getting back on the court to get even stronger. They have a couple of weeks as their next tournament is September 12th in Great Bend.
JV tennis was in Dodge City for their first tennis action of the season. Liberal took 2nd overall with a strong performance. Great Bend took first place as a team.
Individually:
1 singles – Malea Aranda took 4th place by going 2-2 on the day.
2 singles – Marilyn Ochoa finished 3-1 and took 2nd place.
1 doubles – Grace Diaz Deleon & Yaretzi Rosas also took 2nd place by going 3-1.
2 doubles – Yaritza Diaz Deleon & Maryela Vargas battled tough also finishing in 2nd by winning 3 and dropping the championship to Great Bend.
Saw some good things from JV but this was ultimately a learning experience to improve on.
