Wynn Challenges Sophomores After Blowout Loss

KSCB News - February 27, 2012 7:18 am

The Lady Saints bottomed out Saturday night. They lost by 20 to rival Garden City 88-68 and allowed 56 second half points in the process. Head coach called his team’s defensive effort terrible and called out his sophomores. He said his team has no sophomore leadership.

Garden City outscored Seward 56-43 in the second half and 32-25 in the second half. It’s the Lady Busters second straight home win over Seward. The Lady Saint sophomores go 0-6 in two years at the Perryman Center after four Thanksgiving Classic losses.

Ashlyn Knoll and Kayla Thomas led Seward with 12 a piece. Garden City’s Tamara Jones scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Seward falls into third place a half game in front of fourth place Garden.

Seward is 21-6 overall and 10-4 in the Jayhawk West while Garden City improves to 18-11 overall and 10-5 in the Jayhawk West.

The Lady Saints host Butler Wednesday night at 6 p.m. for Sophomore Recognition night at the Green House. Sharp McQueen PA is the buyout sponsor.
