Students Comple The Natural Gas Compression Technology Program

KSCB News - December 14, 2011 3:42 pm

Seven students completed the Natural Gas Compression Technology program this fall at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School. The NGCT program in its first year issued seven certificates of completion on recently with members of the NGCT Advisory Board, SCCC/ATS Board of Trustees and SCCC/ATS staff in attendance.

The students were Brandon Bruner, Hooker, Okla.; Edward Olivas, Liberal; Leslie Russell, Adams, Okla.; Tyler Fischer, Hooker, Okla.; Jaycee Crow, Hooker; Brody Webb, Ulysses; and Grecia Goitia, Liberal.

This one-year non-credit certificate program is industry-driven and provides students with training in how to analytically diagnose, service and maintain gas compression equipment using recommended procedures, special tools, and service information. The students also participated in paid summer internships that strengthened learning and provided the students with opportunities for employment upon completion of the program.

The 2011 NGCT class was able to participate in the program by paying half the tuition thanks to an industry partnership donation from BP America in the amount of $14,ooo. Earlier this fall BP America announced another $14,000 donation to the NGCT program to pay half of the tuition for the 2012 class.

SCCC/ATS NGCT program is now accepting applications for the 2012 class. For more information or to enroll for the program, please contact Ron Garber at 620-417-1175 or email [email protected] . Spaces are limited, so call today!
