Kayla Ann Beachy

Joe Denoyer - February 5, 2019 12:54 pm

Mrs. Kayla Ann (Snovelle) Beachy, 27, died suddenly Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Soule Elementary School, Dodge City, Kansas. She had spent the morning serving at her church and then went to her school to grade papers and prepare her classroom for the upcoming week. As she finished her work and was preparing to leave the building, she walked through the doors of this life and fell into the arms of Jesus.

Kayla was born February 13, 1991 to Karen (Reineke) and Jason Snovelle in Liberal, Kansas. She graduated from Sublette High School in 2009 and then earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Fort Hays State University in 2014. She married Darrell Eugene Beachy on September 30, 2016, at First Christian Church, Dodge City, Kansas. Kayla and Darrell recently made Minneola their home along with their dog, Bailie.

Kayla was artistic; she had a passion for interior design and the color teal. Growing up in Sublette, and Gridley, Kansas, Kayla was a Girl Scout and participated in softball, golf, and scholar’s bowl in high school. She built a life-long bond with her classmates. She enjoyed baking and decorating birthday cakes, especially for her sister, Kaytie. They were separated by thirteen years as sisters, but their connection was that of best friends.

Kayla found her calling in life as a teacher, and through her profession, touched the hearts and minds of many young Southwest Kansas children. She met the kids on their level and kept them ever present in her prayers.

Kayla was a member of First Christian Church of Dodge City, where she volunteered as a greeter and assisted with stage design. She and Darrell found this to be their home and served in various ways. They built many meaningful relationships there.

She is survived by her husband Darrell of the home; stepdaughters, Kylie and Raelynn Christenson of Hutchinson; her parents, Jason and Karen Snovelle of Sublette; her sister, Kaytie Lynn Snovelle of Sublette; maternal grandparents, Jim and Laura Reineke of Sublette; paternal grandfather, Raymond Snovelle of Burlington, KS; an aunt, Shawn Miller and husband Jon of Cimarron; uncles, Jeff and Christie Reineke of Dodge City, Jerry Snovelle and companion Terry Odom, and Justin Snovelle of Burlington; many cousins and wonderful friends.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Alice (Hoskins) Snovelle.

The first visitation will be from 1:00 until 6:00 pm on Friday, February 8, at the Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 pm.

A second visitation will be from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 9, at the First Christian Church in Dodge City, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 pm.

Funeral Service will be 2:30 pm Sunday, February 10, at First Christian Church with Pastor Dusty Cookson, Pastor Richard Crockett, and Pastor Tim Tidenberg officiating. A sunset burial will be 5:00 pm at the Haskell County Cemetery following the service.

As a memorial, Kayla’s family wishes to honor her legacy and requests children’s backpacks filled with school supplies. These may be brought to either visitation or to the funeral service. Monetary donations to purchase Scholastic books or school supplies in memory of Mrs. Beachy can be made payable to the First Christian Church, and or the Sublette Public Schools Foundation, in care of Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory, PO Box 1200, Sublette, Ks 67877.
