Liberal Police Make Arrests

KSCB News - July 16, 2015 3:44 pm

On Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at about 8:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian at Southgate Movie Theater, 1104 S. Kansas Avenue. Responding officers located a 43 year old male lying on the ground complaining of pain to his right leg and arm.

As emergency responders were attending the victim, investigating officers learned that an apparent Hispanic male approached the victim, stole a case of beer from his person, and then ran. The victim then initiated a foot pursuit. As the victim was pursuing the man, a maroon Grand Prix driven by an unknown Hispanic female arrived along side. The unknown Hispanic male threw the case of beer into the open window of the vehicle and ran around the front of the car. As the victim attempted to reach for the passenger door, the vehicle accelerated and made a left turn, hitting the victim and flinging him very hard to the ground. The unknown Hispanic male got into the passenger side of the Grand Prix, and the suspects left the scene without rendering aid to the victim.

The victim was transported to Southwest Medical Center by ambulance. Minor injuries were sustained.

Throughout the investigation, investigating officers learned that the apparent Hispanic male was in fact a Hispanic female. Investigators were able to identify three Hispanic females and the suspect vehicle involved in the incident.

On Wednesday, July 15th 2015 at about 8:11 p.m., during a traffic stop, officers arrested the three Hispanic female suspects in connection with this case. The suspects were apprehended and taken into custody without incident. Affidavits were sent to the Seward County Attorney seeking charges of Aggravated Robbery, Conspiracy, and Intimidation of a Witness.

At this time, no other suspects are being sought; however the investigation is still ongoing.
