Kansas Native To Represent Liberal In Olney

KSCB News - February 17, 2012 8:17 am

Liberal will be well represented this year in Olney, England, for the annual Pancake Day festivities. Tim and Morgan Kuehne and their three girls will be making the drive from Cambridge, UK to Olney on Tuesday to serve as the official representatives for Liberal. Pancake Day Chairman Gary Classen said, “the Kuehne family is eager to experience the cultural events wherever they live, and we are pleased that they have taken us up on the opportunity to represent Liberal on the other side of the pond.” Morgan is a Kansas native and Tim, a “military brat,” has lived all over. Tim is an active duty Air Force pilot who flies the KC-135 air refueler. The Kuehnes currently live in Cambridge, England, and have lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, Washington DC, and Shanghai, China. Daughter Adayla, age seven, is in Year 2 at the local British school and enjoys imitating the British accent as well as reading, sewing and the piano. Tally, age five, is in Year 1 in the local school and tells people, “I speak English, Chinese and British.” She enjoys using the local terms of loo, rubbers, willies, and full stop. Ryann, age three, is their “Made in China” baby who will soon have spent more of her life living out of the States than in the States. The Kuehnes arrived in England just four months ago and have not been able to venture out much due to the cold weather. They are looking forward to their first English adventure in Olney for Pancake Day and are happy to be representing Liberal at the festivities, where they will be cheering everyone on.
