Important Information For The Voters Of Texas County

Important information for the voters of Texas County regarding the Presidential Preferential Primary Election coming up on the 06 ^th Day of March 2012.

1. The Election Board will have ballots for both the Democratic and Republican Candidates for this Election.

The names listed on those ballots are as follows:

Democratic Ballot Republican Ballot

o Jim Rogers * Rick Perry

o Bob Ely * Rick Santorum

o Darcy G. Richardson * Mitt Romney

o Randall Terry * Michelle Bachmann

* Newt Gingrich

* Jon Huntsman

Voters need to know that some of these candidates may have withdrawn from the race before the Election date; however, their names are still on the Ballot.

The Election Board and the Election Officials where they will vote have not been provided information as to the status of a candidate; voters will need to depend on the media or other sources for those details.

2. Many may not realize that in order to vote for a particular ballot, they must be registered in that party. A registered Democrat, only votes the Democratic Ballot on March 6 ^th , 2012; a registered Republican, can only vote the Republican Ballot on March 6 ^th , 2012.

3. A registered Independent, in NOT able to vote in the March 6 ^th , 2012 Election.

4. If a new voter wanted to register or a current voter wanted to change their Political Party in time for the March 6 ^th , 2012 Presidential Preferential Election, an application MUST be in our office by 6:00 p.m. on Friday 10 ^th Feb 2012.

5. November 6 ^th is the General Presidential Election (Final one). All registered voters can vote in this election for any party on the Presidential Ballot.

No Political Affiliation changes can be made from 01 April 2012 to 31 August 2012 (law).

Law also requires applications to be submitted 24 days before an election in order for those changes to be effective for that election. If, for example, an application arrived at our office 23 days before an election, those changes would not become effective until the day after the upcoming election.
