Baker Arts To Offer Ceramics For The Entire Family

Young potter’s will be spinning the wheels again as they learn to throw on the wheel to create bowl and cup forms. They will learn slab- building, coil and pinch pot techniques for a total clay making experience. Native American pottery from the permanent collection as well as viewing ceramics in the Annual High School exhibit will provide inspiration for surface decoration. This is a two month long workshop to allow for drying and firing time of the work. Pick one day of the week for class- Wednesdays OR Fridays. Class meets on Wednesdays- Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25 and March 4, 11, 25 from 3:45 to 4:45 pm OR on Fridays- Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27 and March 9, 13, 27 from 3:45 to 4:45 pm (Note March 9 is a Monday) No class Spring Break. Cost is $30.00 for members and $40.00 for nonmembers.

Adults, Come try your “hands” at throwing pots on the wheel at the Baker Arts Center in this workshop for adults. Slab and other handbuilding techniques will also be used to round out the clay making experience. Surface decoration and textures as well as glazing to enhance the form will finish off the artwork. Class will meet Friday, January 30th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm and Saturday, January 31st from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with glazing on Friday, February 6th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.
