Seward County Commission Approves Several Items

At the Seward County Commission meeting Monday evening, the Commissioners pledged support for a LINK Program for EpicTouch to continue providing high speed internet to another 190 structures including Wheatridge Care Center, Good Samaritan Society, MacArthur Elementary School, 2 churches, and many duplex/apartment complexes.

Commissioners voted to replace existing voice recording system in the 911 Communications Center and to accept bids from VIstaCom for the Eventide Recording System for $62,830.00 and the Motorola AIS Interface license fee from VistaCom for $54,995.00 and the Motorola AIS System bid for $41,414.37 from Motorola for a total of $159,262.00 to be paid out of the 911 fund.

The Commission was presented the annual report of road and bridge work done in Seward County and the expenses for the work and then the report will be forwarded to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Also the Commissioners accepted the service quote from Ideatek to provide business wireless internet for the Event Center with a one time install fee of $100.00, and a monthly charge of $160.00, and accepted the revised service agreement with Ideatek with the change of the business fiber internet at the Kismet Road and Bridge building.

Approved was the final invoice for Howard Drilling in the amount of $57,476.21 for the water well at the Road and Bridge Building, and the Commission approved two agreements with Kirkham and Michael, one for monthly consulting services in the amount of $1,063.43 and the second agreement for coring and road evaluation services on approximately 120 miles of paved roads within Seward County.

The Commission also approved a letter of support for IdeaTek and $5,000 to apply for a LINK grant for rural Seward County.
