Seward County Commission Approves Demolition of the Old Red Cross Building

The Seward County Commission met on Tuesday evening and heard an update from Southwest Medical Center. The Commission requested quarterly updates to the Commission.
Commissioners approved the bid opening on replacement on the windows at the Event Center from S C H Concepts for the amount of $240,172.00. Funds to come out of ARPA grant.
Notification was given to the Commission and the public that the Treasurer’s Office will be closing on September 27, to host the Southwest Kansas Treasurer Association Conference. It has been twenty-one years since Seward County has hosted this event. County Treasurer Mary Rose also informed the Commissioners the the will begin using a new design for envelopes sent by the Treasurers Office as the old style is difficult to find. Commissioners also approved cleaning up of outstanding checks in the amount of $19,658.10. A special check will be sent to the Kansas Treasurers Office with a check coming out of the General Fund along with a hard copy of the Excel sheet and a digital sent to the ‘unclaimed funds’ division. A Journal Entry will be done to move the $13,177.59 to General Income.
The Commission voted to establish a standardized maintenance approach across the county departments, with the contract awarded to gWorks, and approved the bid submitted by M & S Construction for $11,500 to demolish and remove the Red Cross Building located at 301 E. 5th Street.
The Commission approved the 2023 Purchasing Card Policy to be effective June 20, 2023, and approved Resolution 2023-09 revising the previously adopted purchasing policies and procedures guidelines, and approved the Workforce Management Platform, Clear Company in the amount of $29,557.50.
