USD 480 Back To School Information

Liberal U.S.D. #480 will begin the 2014-2015 school year Wednesday, August 13, 2014. Classes for grades 7 and 9 will be in full operation. School lunch will be served and buses will run on the regular schedule. The first day of classes for grades 1-3, 4, 8, 10-12 will be Thursday, August 14 2014, and the first day of classes for preschool, kindergarten, and grades 5 and 6 will be Friday, August 15, 2014. Parent-teacher conferences will be held at the elementary and intermediate schools on August 13 and parent-teacher conferences for preschool and kindergarten will be August 13 and 14, 2014.
District schools will be open to answer your enrollment questions beginning on July 25 as follows:

All high school students who did not enroll on their scheduled day may do so on Friday, August 1, from 8:00 am to 12:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Liberal High School Counselors’ Office phone number is 620-604-1209.
At enrollment all students must have two proofs of their current living address (driver’s license, electric bill, water bill, cable bill, etc.) These are required for enrollment.
New students to USD 480 must also have updated immunization records and birth certificate.
Transfer request may be made at enrollment, BUT will only be considered if space is available.
NOTE: Beginning Tuesday, August 5th, all students (except high school students) will go to the Newcomer’s Center to enroll. The Newcomer’s Center is located at 1002 W. 11th. (West door with large, red sign). For questions, call 620-624-1010
If you would like to apply for Free/Reduced priced meals, applications may be picked up at the Nutrition Services office located in the Liberal High School Cafeteria. Applications will be available beginning July 25. Please use door #19 to enter the office. Office hours will be 8:00 – 4:00 Monday – Thursday. Applications will also be available during enrollment from the cafeteria cashier at each school. Forms for Food Allergies may also be picked up from each cafeteria cashier or at the LHS Cafeteria Office. Please note that new forms must be completed each year by the Doctor in order to provide food substitutions due to medical reasons.
