Late Afternoon Accident Sends 2 to the Hospital

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at approximately 4:17 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection at 15^th Street and Carlton Avenue for a reported injury accident. Responding officers found two vehicles involved.

Investigating officersfrom the Liberal Police Department found that a 22 year old female was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu south on Carlton Avenue. The driver stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection. A 21 year old male was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup west on 15^th Street. The driver of the Malibu entered the intersection and the vehicles collided.

Both drivers were transported to Southwest Medical Center by Seward County EMS with non life-threatening injuries. The Malibu was towed from the scene because of extensive front end damage. The driver of the Malibu was issued a citation for failure to yield at an intersection.
