Guymon Fire Chief Completes Executive Program

Guymon Fire Chief Grant Wadley recently graduated from the 2023

Oklahoma Executive Fire Officer Leadership Program at Oklahoma State

University in Stillwater. Graduation took place on OSU campus on September 19,

2023.

The Oklahoma Executive Fire Officer Leadership Program is a partnership

between Oklahoma State University – Fire Service Training, Oklahoma Fire Chiefs

Association, Oklahoma State Firefighters Association, and the Office of the State

Fire Marshal. The 160 hour program utilizes the curriculum from the International
Public Safety Leadership and Ethics Institute and has been developed to bring the

concepts of leadership and ethics to the forefront of an individual’s career. Topics

include: Developing a Personal Philosophy of Leadership and Ethics, Leading

Others Ethically, Ethical Leadership in Organizations, Ethics and the Challenge of

Leadership.

This course brings these type issues to the forefront of the fire service and place

both younger and veteran officers in learning situations that help bolster their

leadership capabilities within their own Fire Departments and within the

Oklahoma Fire Service.

Chief Wadley is a 27-year veteran of the Guymon Fire Department and a 35 year

veteran of EMS in the Oklahoma Panhandle. He moved through the ranks within

the Guymon Fire Department starting as a Volunteer Firefighter. In 2006, he was

promoted to Assistant Fire Chief and became the EMS Director of the Fire

Department. In 2018, he was promoted to Fire Chief of the Department where

he leads today.
