Collegiate Delegates Begin Term to Serve TCEC

Joe Denoyer - September 5, 2023 3:11 pm

TCEC launches its third year of partnership with OPSU

The Collegiate Delegate program provides students with an invaluable opportunity to sit in on TCEC Board of Trustee meetings and engage in conversations that can shape the future of rural Oklahoma. The August Board meeting at TCEC marked the beginning of the third year of a unique partnership with OPSU. Student delegates this year are Hunter Harris, a Senior from Guymon; Katie Richards, a Senior from Adams; and Ryan Sinclair, a Senior from Elkhart.

Hunter, a Computer Information Systems major, whose curiosity and drive to understand the foundation of businesses, particularly coops, led him to become a Collegiate Delegate. He looks forward to further shaping his leadership model, learning the intricacies of a successful coop, and seeing the team that makes TCEC great.

Katie, an Ag Business major, has plans to continue growing her family farm and ranch. She is thrilled about this opportunity at TCEC. “I am most excited to learn more about the processes that must occur to supply power to the community.” She wanted to be a Collegiate Delegate to understand the unique challenges TCEC faces as an electric cooperative.

Ryan, a Computer Information Systems major, says being a Collegiate Delegate will be a great learning opportunity. He looks forward to understanding the intricacies of internal business proceedings and how IT sectors interact with the rest of the business.

TCEC Collegiate Delegates are expected to attend each monthly board meeting at TCEC. At the end of the 2023-2024 term, delegates give a presentation to the board members about what they learned during their time as a Collegiate Delegate and provide any recommendations they may have for the cooperative. Delegates completing all requirements will be awarded a scholarship to cover one semester at OPSU.
