The Seward County Commission met on Monday evening after the swearing in of the new Commissioners, Clay Louderback Jairo Vazquez, and Jon Mettlen. The Commission voted Steve Helm as Chair and Todd Stanton as Vice-Chair. A request was made to either Wave fees or reduce them for event at the Activity Center, the request was tabled until the January 20th meeting.
The Commission also tabled the Planning & Zoning Board appointments until the next meeting as well. Commissioners approved the increase of $6,157 to the Public Health Emergency Preparedness award issued by KDHE and allowed Brie Greeson, Health Department Director to sign the amendment paperwork.
Approved was Resolution 2026-01, Designating Bank Depositories. Those are Equity Bank, Sunflower Bank, Community Bank, Bank of Beaver City, and Bank of the Plains.
The Commission approved Resolution 2026-02 designating the Leader and Times as the Official County Newspaper for 2026.
The Board approved the Chairman of the Board to sign Resolution 2026-03, the necessary paperwork for Workers Compensation Coverage; Notice, Resolution and Bylaws, and the Bylaws to be returned to KWORC, as well as be filed in the Register of Deeds Office.
2026 Portfolio Assignments were divide up amongst the Commissioners.
