The Seward County Commission met on Monday evening and by the end of the meeting Commissioners Carr, Fuller, and Abbott resigned their seats on the Commission. Replacements will be appointed by their respective political party.
Earlier in the meeting the Commission approved Resolution 2025-19 to accept the negotiated offer, along with authorizing execution of a contract and deed with the City of Liberal for them to purchase Seward County’s interest in the fire station located at 110 W. 15th St., Liberal
Commissioners determined the best option after reviewing the bids, summary comparisons of coverage, overall service to go with Al Shank Insurance/Iron Insurance Partners, for property and casualty and K-WORC for workers compensation.
Approved was the purchase of a 72 inch cut Bad Boy Rogue mower from APD which is the low bid of $9710.08. Commissioners approved the Fire District to proceed with accepting a $6,000.00 grant to go towards purchasing grain bin rescue equipment as designated by the donor.
Seward County Commissioners approved the purchase of the UniFi security system from CDW-G for Security Camera System-Administration Building in the amount of $4875.75 and they authorized the County Administrator to sign the Escrow Agreement Joint Letter of Direction and for the County Treasurer to provide wiring instructions for the escrow funds to be released. $23,590.73 is to be reimbursed to Seward County.
During the meeting, Commissioners heard reports on Work Comp, Tax Recovery, from Kirkham Michael and on the Seward County Fights Addiction Fund Grant.
The Seward County Fights Addiction fund Grant has utilized funds for:
A. 14 – AED units were purchased for the Seward County Sheriff’s Dept. to be placed in deputies’ vehicles ($29,908.48)
B. Fatal Vision Equipment for School Resources Officers ($16,358.00)
C. Prevention posters, etc. for the youth in schools ($1,259.19)
D. 2 – Thermo Scientific TruNarc Delta Handheld Analyzer’s purchased for the Seward County Sheriff’s Dept. ($36,960.00)
E. Drug testing supplies for the youth ($2,483.55)
The current balance in the grant is $29,512.29
