Liberal senior cross country runner Sofia Lucena is Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week.  Lucena qualified for state with a 12th place finish in a PR time of 22.09 Saturday at Dodge City.  She will compete at 6A state in Lawrence Saturday morning.  She also finished ninth at the WAC meet at Willow Tree to be named 2nd team all WAC.  This will be Lucena’s third time to run at state.  She also participated at state as a freshman and sophomore.  She is also involved in track, swim, NHS, and the coloring club.
