Saints Unable to Convert Opportunities at Cowley

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. Seward County men’s soccer turned in a strong performance on the road Wednesday night at No. 3 ranked Cowley, but the Tigers held the Saints off winning 2-0 at the Mark A. Philips Track & Field/Soccer Complex.

The Saints (4-6-0, 0-6-0 KJCCC) had double digit shots on the night including four shots on goal but were unable to put one in the back of the net. Cowley scored a goal in both halves, finishing with 17 total shots and 11 on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Miguel Kwiatkowski made six saves for Seward, including five in the second half. Seward’s offense was led by forwards Chad Haynes and Mickael Dualibi Haddad, who registered the team’s only shots on goal in the second half.

Cowley County (8-0-1, 5-0-1) remains unbeaten on the year. Goalkeeper Lukas Lowry recorded a shutout with four saves.

Seward committed 17 fouls, while the team received two yellow cards on the night. The Saints have now lost three consecutive matches and are searching for the first conference win of the season. They travel to Coffeyville on Saturday for a 4 p.m. match.
