A late-night standoff in Garden City ended peacefully after officers arrested a man who had allegedly threatened someone with a gun—later found to be a BB gun.

Police were called around 12:20 a.m. Saturday to a home in the 1800 block of E. Laurel Street for a report of aggravated assault. Police saidthat officers tried to make contact, but the man refused to come out. Several other people in the home were able to get out safely.

A SWAT team was called in and eventually found the man hiding in the basement. He was taken into custody without further trouble.

The gun he reportedly used to threaten someone was later discovered to be a BB gun.

No injuries were reported. The Kansas Highway Patrol also helped during the incident
